Consultation on the proposed 2027-28 admission arrangements for St George's C of E Primary School

In accordance with the School Admissions Code, Forward As One CE Multi Academy Trust (the admission authority) is consulting on proposed changes to our admission arrangements for entry in September 2027. Consultation will run for a minimum of 6 weeks from Wednesday 17th December to Wednesday 28th January. This consultation period falls within the statutory window as per the Admissions Code: GOV.UK

We are consulting with parents of children aged 2–18, local schools and admission authorities, the local authority, the diocese and other interested parties in the locality as required under the Admissions Code.

The Trust is now formally named as the Admissions Authority.

Oversubscription criteria changes:

Children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) naming the school continue to be admitted before all other applicants.
Looked After and Previously Looked After children remain the highest oversubscription priority.
The sibling criterion has been simplified and standardised, clearly defining siblings as children living as part of the same family unit at the same address.
A single, clearly defined faith-based criterion has replaced the previous multiple church-based categories, making the process clearer and more consistent:
- Applications under this criterion are optional.
- Evidence of regular Church of England worship is required via a Supplementary Information Form.
- A two-band attendance model is used to rank faith-based applications fairly.
Nursery attendance now gives priority for admission (this differs from the previous policy, where nursery attendance did not give priority).
The medical and social needs criterion has been tightened so that professional evidence must show the child’s needs can only be met at this school.
Distance from the school is used as the final criterion, measured in a straight line using the Local Authority’s mapping system.
Tie-break arrangements have been simplified: where distances are equal, places are allocated by independent random allocation.

What happens next:
All responses will be considered by the Trust Board prior to determination of the admission arrangements by 28th February 2026. Once determined, the arrangements will be published on each academy’s website by 15th March and a copy sent to the local authority. Once the final arrangements are determined, anyone with concerns has the right to refer the matter to the Office of the Schools Adjudicator.

Nursery Admission

There will be places for children wishing 15 hours provision or 30 hours provision. All nursery children will be placed in our Foundation Stage unit taught by Mrs Hanson, our very experienced teacher. We will take children from the September of those that are turning 4 that academic year. If places are still available, we also offer places for 'rising 3's' - children may start if places are available in the term after they are 3. Parents should contact the school on 01457 832496 or send an email to admin@stg.fa1.uk if they wish to register their child for a nursery place.

Nursery Admission - September 2025

From Sept 2025 St George's will be offering places for 2 year olds and for 3 year olds. The 3 year olds will begin in Robin class working with the Reception children whereas the 2 year olds will be working in a new base within school but still under the supervision of Mrs Hanson.
